Esther 7:1 So the king and Haman went in to feast with Queen Esther.
This was now the second of Esther’s two feasts that she had prepared for the king and Haman (cf. 5:4-8; 7:1). And, whereas the general mood was high and happy at the first feast because of an amazing day for Haman (5:9-12), the overall tone at this second feast must have been somewhat lower in volume given the fact that Haman had just been publicly humiliated and the king had neither slept nor honored Mordecai for saving his life (6:1-14). Yet here they were, dining with Queen Esther, wondering what request she desired to bring before them both.
