Est. 7:5

Esther 7:5 Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, who has dared to do this?”

Historical records have revealed that this king had quite the temper. So, try to imagine the tone and manner in which he was speaking. Also, keep in mind that they had all been drinking (7:2).

Though Esther had still not technically voiced her nationality to either Haman or the king, one can imagine that throughout this dialogue Haman was beginning to connect the dots. The longer the king and queen would have spoken, the more fear Haman would have felt rising within him. The king asked Esther point-blank to tell him the name of the man who would dare come against him and those of his own household. Little did the king know that this genocidal maniac was sitting right next to him and was one of the most noble officials in the empire (cf. 6:9).
