Esther 8:14 So the couriers, mounted on their swift horses that were used in the king’s service, rode out hurriedly, urged by the king’s command. And the decree was issued in Susa the citadel.
Having the letters in hand and the horses made ready, the couriers rode off as fast as they could to deliver the news as quickly as possible. Thus, the decree, having been posted first in Susa, traveled to all 127 provinces of the Persian empire.
The first decree was of certain death, but the second decree was a gift of life (cf. Rom. 6:23). As Christians, we are the couriers in this world. By the command of the King (Matt. 28:18-20), we must hurry this good news that we have received to all people in all places and in all languages (2 Pet. 3:9, 12).
