Est. 8:2

Esther 8:2 And the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

Just before Haman was led away to the gallows, the king had taken back his signet ring that Haman had been holding onto for the past two months (cf. 3:10). However, this edict-authorizing powerful ring was not on the king’s hand too long before he then handed it off to another man – Mordecai. For Esther’s cousin, this was an automatic promotion. Not only was he given a huge responsibility of carrying the king’s seal, but Queen Esther even set him up as the authority over Haman’s entire household to do with as he pleased. Thus, Haman’s house officially belonged to Esther (8:1), but she made Mordecai the manager who would oversee the affairs of the estate (8:2).

Proverbs 13:22b says, “…the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous.”
